Scopello has an ancient name, which perfectly reveals the nature and charm of the place: Skopelos in Greek means “rock” and the historic village of Scopello is in fact a sort of cliff that descends to the sea and overlooks the gulf, A few kilometers from Castellammare.
On the coast between Castellammare del Golfo and San Vito lo Capo extends the Zingaro Natural Reserve: a magnificent alternate of white coves and white bays, Mediterranean scrub, crystal clear sea and cliffs, where nature manifests itself in its splendor, with unique specimens of Flora and fauna. Today Scopello and the Riserva dello Zingaro are considered by tourists as a must when visiting Western Sicily.
